Welcome to the RoleModeling™ web site. Role Modeling™ comprises the tools and techniques which support the creation, dissemination and maintenance of role models and Role-based business practices.

Role Modeling (RM) is a simple but powerful technique used by individuals and groups to clarify their roles and responsibilities with respect to each other.

RM is impressive as both a tactical tool and a strategic technique. As a tactical tool it is used to resolve inter- and intra-organizational "we/they" problems and create collaborative work processes. As a strategic technique it   engineers an organizational structure with effective distribution of responsibility, accountability and control, while  simultaneously developing acceptance of that structure.

Scenarios based on role models show how roles collaborate in responsive processes to meet the complex and potentially conflicting needs of the stakeholders and their organizations. RM can be practiced from the top down, bottom up, or middle out. The technique resolves integration issues naturally when model boundaries overlap.

While Role Modeling is best introduced in facilitated sessions, it is meant to become a natural part of the language used in day-to-day operations. As that evolution occurs there is less reliance on facilitators and more direct support with courses, tools, and peer discussion groups.
